About the Trips

Inshore Trip

We will fish the bays, points and coves of Casco Bay and the Kennebec River. We typically will catch Stripped Bass and Bluefish. We can also catch Mackerel and Pollack which, depending on size, may be use as bait. The methods will vary depending on the location and what is biting. We will either drift, troll or anchor the boat. Lines are either pulled casually through the water or they are actively cast to specific targets that may be holding fish.

Offshore Trip

For a typical offshore trip we will run from 10 to 40 miles out. Our target species can be ground fish, sharks or tuna. Each trip is different depending on what fish are running and what the sea conditions are.

The Boat

For inshore fishing we use a 20" Smokercraft pontoon boat. This boat has ample elbow room and makes a sound, stable base to fish from. There is a bimini top over the stern for protection from the elements. This boat has a Johnson 60 horsepower motor that pushes it along comfortably.

For offshore fishing we use a 25' Grady White Sailfish. Its cuddy design provides a small cabin for comfort and relief from the weather. There are the basic amenities in the cabin - a berth, table, sink and a head. The boat is powered with twin Suzuki outboards each rated at 200 horsepower.

Season

Our season of operation begins in June and runs until October. We will, however, fish before and after those months if we know the fish are running. Inshore charters can be scheduled at any time. This type of fishing is generally very dependable and we usually always have good luck. Offshore fishing is less predictable by its nature. We only schedule offshore charters when we know there are fish in the area.
